Starting on August 2, 1990, with the onset of Iraq’s brutal occupation of Kuwait, a group of selfless Kuwaitis, together with key British supporters, began organizing and protesting the invasion of their nation. As the chilling reality set in that the Iraqi regime intended to rule Kuwait forever, their momentum grew into a movement centered in London of more than 200 volunteers working mainly within more than 2 dozen newly created committees. This movement and its committees operated under the all-encompassing title of the Free Kuwait Campaign. After a 7-month struggle, their reward was a liberated Kuwait and the knowledge of their role in achieving it. This website aims to document some of their efforts for posterity, and to thank these Kuwaitis and their British supporters for their dedication to the urgent cause of Kuwait’s liberation. We do regret in hindsight that our coverage of the FKC was limited and contains too many omissions. We hope over time that others may help to fill these gaps by contributing to this Free Kuwait website.
